RD7. Casa del Duc
Mladen wants to change California for Barcelona and has found this 19th century house in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona that has fascinated him.
The compartmentalized and dark spaces characteristic of the 19th century are transformed looking for spaciousness and space to enjoy the company of friends.
We transform the old interior bedrooms into a kitchen and dining room that are the heart of the house. Original wooden beams are recovered with metal reinforcements where it has been necessary. Interior and exterior carpentry were recovered, the old solid wood flooring and the surprise hydraulic tiles that appeared under it in the master bedroom.
With the iconic and central island we propose a space that invites conversation and movement around it.
We mix the elements inherited in the house with the contemporaneity of the materials with reflections and metallic textures.
